Biography

Madalena Lordelo received her PhD in Poultry Science from the University of Georgia (USA) and a Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) from the University of Lisbon (Portugal). She has been a professor and researcher at ISA since 2005, and her areas of interest include sustainability in poultry production, alternative ingredients in poultry feed and factors that affect egg quality. She has been focused on raising awareness among civil society about the importance of biodiversity, especially Portuguese chicken breeds. In 2021, she published a book entitled "The Egg – Cracking Myths from the Chicken to the Fork” with the aim of communicating scientific knowledge about poultry farming to the general public. Since 2022, she has been Vice-President of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, at the University of Lisbon.
